INSTALLATION

Garden Edging up to 400mm in heightGarden edging at this height can be installed on crushed rock footing and crushed rock core fill. Landscape Walls 400-800mm in heightSTONEBLOK® walls at this height require concrete footing, vertical steel reinforcement and concrete core fill to ensure wall integrity.Walls above 800mmWalls can be built up to several metres if fully engineered and built with steel reinforcement and concrete core fill. An engineer’s design is required for walls above 800mm in height.

GENERAL GUIDELINESConstructing the FootingExcavate a trench 300mm deep and 400mm in width. Fill with a well graded concrete mix and insert vertical steel reinforcement at 300 mm intervals. Steel bars should extend vertically to 50mm below desired wall height and to the base of the concrete footing.Laying the base courseUse a string line to ensure your wall is constructed in a straight line where necessary. Placing a 20mm bedding layer or mortar on the concrete footing will make it easier to level the first course.

Beginning at the lowest point, place units and tap into position using a rubber mallet. Make sure that every block is level from front to back and side to side using a spirit level. This will ensure your wall is constructed to its full potential. Infill each course with 25mpa concrete ensuring concrete has reached all wall cavities.Installing remaining coursesSweep excess concrete from top of first course and place second course blocks onto the railing of the first course. Ensure blocks are laid in staggered brick pattern to maintain wall integrity. Then infill the block cavities in the same way as for the base course. Continue this process for all remaining courses.

Note: Some block cutting will be necessary at end of each course to tailor block size to project requirements. Typically 2 cuts per course are required. A 400mm brick saw with diamond blade is recommended. Finishing of wallWhen the last course has been installed, place the capping units on the top course of blocks, ensuring capping is sitting firmly on railing system. Affix capping with either masonry adhesive or mortar.Note: All walls should be constructed in accordance with Australian Standards AS3700 and it is recommend that structural engineering be sought to verify all structural computations to suit specific site requirements.
